This striking preloved mid-century British Legion wall plaque, likely (circa 1940s–1960s) showcases a commanding 3D lion head and is believed to inspire the timeless 'Service not Self' motto. It is especially impressive due to its size, measuring 94cm x 94cm. Cast in what appears to be tin or other lightweight metal, possibly reinforced at a later date with fiberglass (also known as GRP - Glass reinforced plastic) with gorgeous gold-on-blue patina, it's refreshingly unrestored, bearing honest age marks and original 'as found' paint that tell its story. This is a genuine outdoor branch headquarters sign, it is lightweight, extremely durable and highly desirable as it's easy to hang, without the need for heavy duty structural support. This gorgeous and imposing piece, pre-dates the 'Royal' prefix by a decade, this is a genuine rarity for militaria enthusiasts and vintage signage lovers alike.
